Disability: Access, Equity, and Inclusion Improvement Plan

Disability Services is pleased to share that we are working on a long-term plan to improve access, equity, and inclusion for people with disabilities in our campus community. Key to our efforts will be the support of GMU students, faculty, and staff with disabilities and disability allies.

For this reason we are seeking participants for two opportunities to help guide our work:

1) Focus Group Participation: We will host focus groups in February and March of 2023 to solicit community input on access, equity, and inclusion at Mason and understand how Mason can improve in these areas for students and faculty with disabilities. This is a one-time commitment of 90 minutes. Focus groups will be audio-recorded, but all responses will be de-identified for data analysis. If you are interested in participating in a focus group, please complete the interest form linked here by February 3rd. We will follow-up in February 2023 for scheduling.

2) Working Group Participation: Following the focus groups, we will form a working group comprised of faculty and students to collaboratively develop an action plan for our access, equity, and inclusion improvement plan during the spring 2023 semester. This working group is unpaid. We anticipate participation taking no more than 5-10 hours total across April and May of 2023. If you are interested in joining the working group, please complete the interest form linked here by February 24th. We will follow-up in March 2023 for scheduling.

Thank you for your interest in contributing to this important project. Please contact ods@gmu.edu if you have any questions.
