Students who have approved accommodations can access the AIM student portal using their GMU NetID and password. This does not apply to Law School students. Law School students will need to reach out directly to Diedre Lamb at [email protected] in order to request Accommodation Letters.
Below, you will find instructions for utilizing the AIM Student Portal to perform various accommodation-related tasks. Using the portal, students can request accommodations, send accommodation notification letters to faculty, acknowledge policies, and submit exam requests (coming soon). If you have any questions or run into any issues using the portal, please contact Disability Services at [email protected] or 703-993-2474.

Checking Your Eligibility
Eligibility Letters
Here is how to check your eligibility for accommodations that you have been approved for through George Mason’s Disability Services. Please note that eligibility letters only provide you with a record of the reasonable accommodations that you’ve been approved for and these are different from your academic accommodation letters. If you would like to learn how to request your academic accommodation letters, please refer to the “Requesting Academic Accommodation Letters” video.
1. You begin by logging into the DS AIM Portal. You’ll be taken to your dashboard once you login. This is what your dashboard should look like.
2. Next, you will navigate over to the menu on the lefthand side, and click on the link that says ‘My Eligibility’.
3. Then, you will be taken to this page where your eligibility for accommodations will be listed. If you need to generate a PDF of your eligibility letter, you can do so by clicking on the generate pdf button here. You can also generate a pdf with additional description, which gives you a short summary on how each of your accommodations work.
4. Alternatively, you can also click on the arrow next to each accommodation, and this will give you that same description.
5. If an accommodation that was approved by Disability Services does not appear here, please reach out to your specialist within our office. They will be your contact if any further questions arise. If you are unsure on who your specialist is, click on the link that says overview from the menu on the left. This card on the right side that says Specialist should display who your specialist is and if you prefer to send them an email, click on the link that says send email
Request Accommodation Letters
Accommodation Letters Request
Hello! Here is how to request your academic accommodation letters, or AALs, and how to send them to your instructors.
1. You will begin by logging into the DS AIM Portal.
If this is your first time logging in and if you have been assigned accommodations that have specific policies or agreements, you will see them listed on here. You must acknowledge these agreements before continuing on to request your accommodations for specific course.
These agreements should be listed under Available Forms. To acknowledge them click on Continue to Sign Electronically. You will be presented with a list of agreements and policies. Once you’re done reading them, type in your full name into the box to sign it electronically and click on Submit Form.
2. Then, you will then be taken to your dashboard. Here is what that should look like.
3. Next, scroll until you see the accommodation requests section for the semester that you wish to submit accommodation requests for.
4. To begin making your request, click on the plus sign here or on the link that says Add Request.
5. Any active courses that you are enrolled in will appear in the Accommodations Request section under the Step: Select Courses heading. This student is currently enrolled in 2 courses. You can expand on the “How to Request Accommodations” for step-by-step instructions.
You will then select the courses that you wish to submit accommodation requests for. If you wish to apply the exact same accommodations to all selected courses, you can click on the box that says ‘Apply the same accommodations to all selected courses’. But, if you do not wish to apply the same accommodations to all selected courses you don’t have to select this.
6. You will then be taken to this page where you will have to confirm the accommodations for non lecture courses. Check on the boxes to confirm the classes. If you have more than one class, please check the boxes for the classes that you will need accommodations for. Then, click on continue to the next step.
7. This will take you to a page where there is a section for each course that you are enrolled in. You then select all the accommodations that you wish to apply to the course. If you only wish to apply certain accommodations, you can do so by individually checking the boxes with the accommodations you prefer. If you wish to apply all accommodations for a course, simply click the checkbox that says Select All. If you do not wish to submit any accommodation requests for a course, you can do so by clicking the checkbox that says I do not need accommodations for this course. For the purpose of this demonstration, I will choose Select All.
8. In the Step: Final Step section, there is another selection box, where you will review and acknowledge a final agreement before the request is complete. Then, click on the Submit Request button, and your letter request will be sent to the Disability Services Staff for approval.
Once approved, your accommodation letters will be sent to your instructor. You will be CCed on this email. If you do not receive the letters within 3 to 5 business days, please contact our office at [email protected] or 703-993-2474.
If you would like to modify a request or apply more accommodations for a course, you will have to repeat the same process over again. However, if you wish to alter your eligible accommodations, or add any additional requests, please reach out to your specialist within our office.
If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please let us know.
Thank you.
